1. Overview
Bellaatrix is a student-built platform made exclusively for
GTU students to share notes, papers, projects and mentorship.
We are not a commercial company — this is a small team of
students running a community tool. This policy describes what
little data we collect and how we treat it.
2. Data we collect
We try to collect the minimum needed to run the platform:
- Account details you give us — name, email, and college/branch/semester info.
- Content you upload — notes, papers, project files, and messages you post.
- Basic usage data — pages visited, actions taken, and device/browser info, used only to keep things working and improve the product.
- Chat inputs — if you use our AI chat features, your messages and prompts are processed to generate a response.
We do not knowingly collect payment information, government IDs, or sensitive personal data.
3. AI tools we use
Bellaatrix uses third-party AI models and APIs to power
features like chat, summarization, and content suggestions.
When you interact with these features, your inputs may be
sent to the relevant AI provider to generate a response.
These AI providers retain their own rights, licenses, and
terms over their models and outputs — Bellaatrix does not
claim ownership over the underlying AI technology we use, and
we are not responsible for how a third-party AI provider
separately handles data under its own policies. We recommend
not submitting sensitive personal information into any chat
or AI-powered feature.
4. How we use data
- To create and manage your account.
- To show you relevant notes, papers, and resources for your branch and semester.
- To operate community features like study groups, hackathon listings, and mentor connections.
- To detect abuse, spam, or violations of our Terms of Service.
- To improve Bellaatrix based on how it's actually used.
5. Sharing & third parties
We don't sell your personal data. We may share limited data
with:
- Service providers that host our infrastructure (e.g. hosting, storage, analytics).
- AI/API providers, solely to process the specific request you make.
- Authorities, only if required by law.
Content you choose to post publicly (notes, project
showcases, forum posts) is visible to other verified GTU
students on the platform by design.
6. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but as a
student-run project we can't guarantee absolute security. No
method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use
a unique password and avoid sharing sensitive personal
information through the platform.
7. Student-submitted content
Notes, papers, and projects uploaded by students remain the
intellectual property of their original creators or
respective sources. Bellaatrix does not claim copyright over
user-submitted academic material — we simply provide the
space to share it. See our
Terms of Service for more on content
rights and takedown requests.
8. Your choices
- You can request to view, correct, or delete your account data at any time.
- You can stop using AI-powered features if you'd rather not have your inputs processed by a third-party model.
- You can delete content you've uploaded, subject to community moderation records.
9. Educational use
Bellaatrix is built for GTU students and is intended for
educational, non-commercial use within that community. It is
not designed for use outside this context, and we don't
knowingly collect data from young children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Bellaatrix grows. If we make
material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above
and, where reasonable, let active users know.
